RollBar

RCR offers three versions of roll bars

  • Standard is a “street spec roll hoop” A typical four-point rollbar
  • 6-Point Track Day Cage
  • 6-Point Full Race Cage

It is important to understand features of each cage and your intended purpose of your car.

The standard cage is a hoop over & behind the drivers head with struts at the rear of the hoop to the chassis. For manufacturing reasons, the standard hoop which originally was in the engine compartment is now in the passenger compartment, bolting to the struts behind the bulkhead.

The 6-point hoops add structure over the top of the drivers head tying to the dash at the bottom of each A-pillar. The structure IS NOT recessed into the body shell but sits below the headliner. Some have complained that in an accident, you will hit your head on the overhead bars and they are really designed to be for someone wearing a helmet. If considering this style cage, it is very important you sit in a car with this style rollbar to see if it meets your needs.

I prefer the original style street rollbar that installed behind the bulkhead, in the engine compartment, leaving the passenger compartment free of any hardware. Unfortunately, it is no longer an option so I cut the provided apart to serve as material for my own version. From the pictures, it does get tight on the install but it fits well and really hides from view.

For those curious, the original cars steel spider served as the rollbar for the vehicle, they did not have a separate bar.

I chose to replicate the formed crossbar of the MkV Safir builds, it lends a little more to the originality.

I also designed a couple ‘wings’ to accept the door striker base to give the latch system more rigidity.
