I built a metal “build bench” to work on the GT40. From a number of other builders, I’ve learned:
- The underside of the lowest tube has to be tall enough to allow the wheels and legs of a Cherry Picker to roll under the stand
- Much of the work will be done at the level of the sponson top so overall height is critical. I chose to make mine XCX” tall.
- The casters will be subject to the weight of the vehicle by the time you’re ready to put it on its feet. Make sure the casters are sufficient load capacity.
I built two of these, using 2″ square tube and then spaced them using 1″ square tube. You’ll note the two sockets with a clamp bolt on the inside of the stand.
If you need plans for this, reach out to me.
